Jessica's Platform
Love Where You Live
Strengthening the city’s investment in our community & families
Our beautiful beaches, small town vibes, and true Florida culture has attracted families from across the country. Putting families and community first through a continued emphasis and investment in our parks, recreation, resources for seniors, youth, and in between, as well as walkability for all our districts.
Committed to putting residents first through responsive & open communication
As a public educator and teacher lead, Jessica has worked to incorporate strong lines of communication between school, families, and all stakeholders. Among her experience as a public educator for the past 16 years, she has worked as a gifted program coordinator in Duval Schools and now with Florida Virtual School District. Her role in this position requires steadfast executive functioning and communication skills, the facilitation and writing of hundreds of educational plan meetings on a yearly basis, coordinating these meetings with multiple stakeholders (parents, teachers, school psychologists and ESE service providers), leading professional development for teachers and parents through informational sessions, as well as writing grants in order to fill the gaps in resources for our students and teachers.
Reinforce the city’s commitment to environmental conservation of our tree canopy & stormwater management
As a child, Jessica rode her bicycle under the beautiful shade of the Live Oak canopy in AB, climbed, swung, and sat under their branches. Today, it brings her great joy to watch her own children do the same. It is of the utmost importance to ensure the same will be true for generations to come. Doing this through continued reinforcement in the city's commitment and ordinances to environmental conservation of the tree canopy. As it stands, Atlantic Beach has much in place for environmental stewardship to which we owe our current and past commission and philanthropist citizens. We must continue in our diligence for stormwater management and updates to our infrastructure as we all wish to enjoy our life on this barrier island.
Dedicated to fiscal responsibility & an efficient government
The City of Atlantic Beach has an annual budget of $60 million ($54 million was proposed for 2021-2022 Fiscal Year). As City Commissioner, Jessica will have the duty of reviewing and voting on the Annual Proposed Budget, ordinances, and resolutions and protecting our citizen's fiscal investments in this city.
